Since Northwoods Therapy opened its doors in July of 1981 to serve the people of the Chippewa Valley, it has been owned and operated by licensed Physical Therapists. This tradition continues today to serve our patients with the highest quality physical therapy and rehabilitation services available!

Although our offices have moved over the years, our services continue to reach the people of the Chippewa Valley at our locations in Altoona and Chippewa Falls. Recent growth has brought us to Lake Hallie in the Valley Sports Academy(VSA).

In 2010, the long time owner of Northwoods Therapy sold it to four of his employees. Office manager, Patty Wollum, and Physical Therapists Mike and Becky Newby and Amy Kurtz took the opportunity to continue to make Northwoods Therapy Associates a premier facility for rehabilitation. In 2020 Patty retired, and the growth of the ownership team continued with the addition of Ryan Stearns and TJ Nereng, both physical therapists. Their roles as patient care providers and owners gives them the chance to meet the needs of our patients while directly interacting with them and working along side 16 therapists.

In 2023, Mike and Becky Newby opted to reduce their hours and retire from ownership. January 2024 brought the addition of Jaramia Jehn, physical therapist.

The Lake Hallie location inside of VSA became a reality in April 2024. We will bring on our 23rd physical therapist this month as well.

Northwoods continues to strive to push to provide the best in physical therapy services in the Chippewa Valley.
